Joker Finally Casts its Thomas Wayne; Synopsis and More Cast Members Revealed

We have just recently gotten our first look at Joaquin Phoenix as ‘Arthur' in the upcoming Joker movie, and WB has just released a statement giving us the official synopsis as well as other members of the cast.

As per Batman-News, this is the official synopsis for Joker:

Jokercenters around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

I just think it's funny because Joker's name in the film is Arthur Fleck, making him A. Fleck—as in Ben Affleck, the guy who may or may not be playing DCEU's Batman.

Probably the biggest casting news for the movie is that the film has finally found someone to play Thomas Wayne. Originally to be played by Alec Baldwin, the role of Batman's father is now going to be played by Brett Cullen. Interestingly enough, Cullen had a small role as a congressman in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Besides Cullen, new cast members announced are Glenn Fleshler (Barry), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), and Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire). Frances Conroy is also officially in the cast, confirming rumors that she was up to play Joker's mother.

Also, Hangover star Bradley Cooper is attached as a producer for this movie. Other Hangover alumni coming onboard are director of photography Lawrence Sher and editor Jeff Groth.

Joker is set for a release on Oct. 4, 2019.
