Joker Director Todd Phillips Shares Two New Images Of Joaquin Phoenix

We're still a few months away from the premiere of Joker but we now have two awesome new photos of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, thanks to director Todd Phillips.

Phillips shared the images on his official Instagram account. The first photo is the cover for the August 2019 issue of Empire magazine while the second one is for the special subscriber issue. Make sure to scroll through the post below.

The first image is somehow a screenshot from the first screen test featuring Phoenix as Arthur Fleck that has been altered to include a shot of Arthur wearing his clown makeup. However, it's the second image that truly captures the two sides of Arthur.

It's still unclear just how far Joker will veer away from the villain's comic book origins but we certainly have an idea because of its stunning first trailer. In the teaser, we see Arthur struggling with abuse and poverty and we also get a glimpse at how he is slowly descending into madness. Needless to say, the trailer alone should confirm that Joker is unlike the flashy comic book movies that are out right now.

The film also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, and Douglas Hodge. Child actor Dante Pereira-Olson has been confirmed to play the young Bruce Wayne, who will eventually grow to become Batman.

Joker is scheduled for release on October 4.
