Joker: Check Out Joaquin Phoenix in Full Costume via Set Photos

Production is currently ongoing for Todd Phillips' Joker movie, and we didn't expect that we would get a good look at his character in full costume so soon. A recent set video has come out showing Joaquin Phoenix's Joker terrorizing some train commuters, but some set photos give us a better look at him in costume.

Check them out:

There's even a photo of him inside the train, wearing a mask alongside his other thugs.

If you ask me, this version of the Joker seems to be pulling aesthetics both from Heath Ledger's Joker as well as Cesar Romero's version from the 60s. The long hair and messy make-up are Mr. J from The Dark Knight, but the color scheme and suit seem to be lifted straight from 60s Joker.

Probably the most unique element of the look is the face paint. We've never seen Joker with a red nose and red eyebrows before, but some people think that we'll get a more traditional look by the end of the film. Then again, people didn't like the first reveal of Ledger's Joker either, and look how iconic that turned out to be.

I think it's also worth mentioning that The Joker hiding among his henchmen in a mask is straight out of The Dark Knight heist as well, but maybe this time, nobody is going to start killing each other within the heist.

This film is setting up to be amazing, and it could just add to the growing roster of films for the DCEU. Admittedly the franchise has been lagging behind Marvel Studios, but it's the experimental films like this that keep things interesting.

Joker is set to come out Oct. 4, 2019.
