Johnny Depp was accused by Amber Heard of using trolls to attack her and called his supporters bots or not real persons. However, new research revealed that she has more bot supporters than Depp.

Johnny Depp Fans Are Using Genuine Accounts, Amber Heard Got More Supporters From Inauthentic Accounts

The Aquaman actress claimed in her filing that Johnny Deppa and his lawyer deployed Twitter trolls and Russian bots to attack her online in a smear campaign. Amber Heard alleged that she received various attacks from automated accounts with the goal of ruining her career, The Guardian reported.

Cyabra, a tech company, conducted research on the Twitter accounts actively participating in the discourse of Depp's defamation trial against her and found out that only 11% were inauthentic accounts. Surprisingly, most of them support Heard.

"Whenever there's a lot of people involved, there's always going to be some level of additional, inauthentic conversation going on around a topic," Cyabra CEO Dan Brahmy told Fox News Digital before adding, "usually…about drawing financial interest, or some sort of status or political interest."

Brahmy noted that there was a "very clear distinction between" bot accounts supporting Depp content and Heard content.

The company did not just analyze Depp and Heard's names as words due to the huge volume of mentions. Instead, they sifted accounts using relevant hashtags like "#IStandWithAmberHeard, #BoycottJohnnyDepp, #JusticeForJohnnyDepp" and the likes.

Of the 2,300 accounts that Caybra analyzed, most of the genuine accounts shared pro-Depp content such as hashtags #JusticeForJohnnyDepp, #BoycottAmberHeard and #AmberHeardIsALiar. Meanwhile, the top inauthentic pro-Depp account received almost 20,000 shares on one post.

On the other hand, most of the accounts sharing pro-Heard content were from inauthentic fan pages using hashtags like #JusticeForAmberHeard, #JusticeForAmberHeard, #JohnnyDeppIsALiar and so on.
