After the success of the John Wick franchise, the creator, Derek Kolstad will be working on a new project very soon.

V.E. Schwab's fantasy series titled A Darker Shade of Magic was acquired by Neal Moritz's Original Film, Gerard Butler, and Alan Siegel's G-Base productions back in 2016. And according to Variety, Kolstad will be adapting Schwab's series for Sony.

Schwab's series tells the story of a universe split into four parallel Londons. These are all ruled by different monarchies with one common denominator - magic. There exists a world where everyone thinks magic is essential to life, Red London; one where higher-ups use it against the weak, White London; one where magic is the reason for wrecking the entire world, Black London; and one where magic isn't part of everyone's lives, Grey London.

Three novels are within the series, and io9 thinks that there could be a potential franchise following Kolstad's.

Kolstad made one of the most successful series, and up till now, both critics and fans alike still love the iconic franchise. This was evident in the release of John Wick: Parabellum, which had a total of $321 million worldwide. Kolstad also worked on Marvel's upcoming series Falcon and The Winter Soldier which recently wrapped production.

Kolstad's filmography tells us that Schwab's novels are in good hands. Without a doubt, A Darker Shade of Magic will be a hit amongst the fans and will surely be loved by people all over the globe.

Falcon and Winter Soldier is expected to debut in the Fall of 2020 on Disney+ while A Darker Shade of Magic's estimated release date is yet to be revealed.
