John Wick Director Shares Update on Highlander Reboot

It's no secret that Chad Stahelski is a busy man. The John Wick 4 co-director is expected to work on the fourth film and has also helped in working out the action sequences in the highly anticipated The Matrix 4. But will Stahelski have enough time to work on the Highlander remake? The filmmaker has just offered an update on the reboot.

Stahelski recently spoke to Discussing Film where he confirmed that the Highlander remake is still happening. However, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done before the reboot can begin production.

"We're in heavy development mode on Highlander," Stahelski said. He then added that although it may take time, fans can rest assured that the project is definitely moving forward.

"Tweaking the scripts, writing, conceptualizing sequences, how we're going to do everything. We probably have a lot more in-person kind of things, but it hasn't slowed down our development process at all," Stahelski confirmed.

Highlander was originally released back in 1986 and it starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Scottish swordsman who belongs to a special group of immortal warriors who can only be killed by beheading. Although he has lived peacefully for several centuries, he encounters another immortal in the present day who wants to obtain "the Prize" which can only be achieved by killing the last of their kind.

For now, details about the remake have not yet been revealed. Nevertheless, we're hoping that we'll get more news once Stahelski is ready to work on the Highlander reboot.
