There is little doubt that Keanu Reeves has spent almost a decade playing John Wick and he continues to be a central part of the action franchise. But is there one scene that stands out as the best one for the actor? Reeves has opened up about his favorite scene in the John Wick movies and it's actually an interesting choice.
Keanu Reeves recently attended the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival where John Wick: Chapter 4 had a special screening (via The Hollywood Reporter). While speaking to an audience, the Matrix Resurrections star admitted that his favorite scene happens to be the character's final moments.
“If I just looked at from [the perspective of] John — John Wick — maybe him at the end on the stairs,” Reeves said. “When he says, ‘Helen.’ That, for me, after like eight years of playing the role and after shooting the [massive fight on the other set of stairs], that part that was [a poignant link] to the past.”
It was certainly a fitting conclusion for John Wick and it's understandable why Keanu Reeves chose John's death scene as his favorite. On the other hand, it's also a scene that makes us wonder about the franchise's future.
In John Wick: Chapter 4, John dies after being mortally wounded by Caine. He does, however, manage to kill the Marquis Vincent de Gramont and is declared free of debt by the Harbinger. The film concludes with John being buried beside his beloved wife Helen. Meanwhile, Koji's daughter Akira confronts Caine as she seeks revenge for her father's murder.
At this point, it's unclear what will happen in John Wick: Chapter 5. Will it focus on Akira instead? Or will it serve as a prequel to the franchise? Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
