Longtime followers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are very much aware that John Krasinski has been lobbying to become part of the billion-dollar franchise since Phase One. In fact, it's common knowledge amongst MCU diehards that the 43-year-old star once auditioned to become Captain America but lost the bet to Chris Evans.

For years, folks have toyed with the idea of John potentially playing Reed Richards long before Marvel Studios announced its plans to reboot the Fantastic Four. It wasn't until Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that he was finally given the opportunity to play the "Smartest Man Alive" although his appearance was incredibly brief.

Speaking with The Wrap during Jack Ryan Season 3's press tour, Krasinski shared that while he enjoyed his short but "totally insane" MCU experience, he wasn't exactly a fan of Reed Richard's fate in Multiverse of Madness at the hands of Wanda Maximoff which ended up spawning several memes.

He explains: "It was totally insane. To be in a room with all those people, and again to be a part of that narrative is crazy. But yeah, being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what it was fun nonetheless."

It's a shame that Disney's acquisition of the Fox franchise couldn't come sooner because if we're being real here, he would've easily gotten the role had Marvel Studios actually gotten the chance to develop the fantastic Four reboot much sooner.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is streaming on Disney+. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot is slated for theatrical release on February 14, 2025.
