I believe it goes without saying that the DC Extended Universe is seen by many as a dying property and despite several efforts to please its fans and keep up with its "rival" the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. and DC Films have been struggling with it in terms of consistency. However, James Gunn's addition to the franchise in 2018 brought renewed hope for the franchise and was deemed as a game-changer. Lo and behold, his involvement in the DCEU has indeed done wonders for the property.

With only two projects under his belt so far, the director of the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has seemingly reinvigorated the DCEU, and all of a sudden, fans are once again interested in the media franchise. In fact, Gunn's latest offering Peacemaker has been performing exceptionally well on streaming and is now hailed as the most in-demand show on the planet.

In a promising report published by Business Insider, the John Cena-led show is so popular right now that it has been able to surpass the likes of The Witcher and The Book of Boba Fett. Data firm Parrot Analytics even says that Peacemaker is 69.5 times more in demand than the average series.

WB and DC Films have made some questionable decisions in the past but you gotta give them credit for bringing James Gunn in. And with how successful his DCEU venture has been thus far, one can only imagine how thrilled and delighted the higher-ups are. Hopefully, they'll continue to let Gunn let loose and do things his way because clearly, the fans are eating it up.

Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max.
