John Boyega Makes Peace with Star Wars, Admits Finally Enjoying It As A Fan

It's no secret that the Star Wars sequels made John Boyega a huge star. However, fans who expected his character to play a larger role in the film trilogy were greatly disappointed when Finn didn't live up to the hype. Not surprisingly, Boyega himself wasn't happy about that but he has since made his peace with the franchise and admits he can now enjoy watching the movies.

Back in 2020, John Boyega criticized Disney for putting Finn on the sidelines after being introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up," he had said. Still, it looks like Boyega has moved on and is happier with the franchise.

John Boyega recently spoke to The Times of London where he discussed what it is like being a part of the franchise (via Deadline).

"For me, Star Wars has made the man, in a sense… The experiences, the fun times, good times, ugly times, bad times, it makes you who you are as you navigate through the industry, and that has definitely been interesting," Boyega said. He then added that he understands how J.J. Abrams wanted the trilogy to end.

"I feel like the arc that JJ tried to tie up, that's where I feel comfortable with the release of him. And since then I've been able to enjoy, as a fan, The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'm enjoying the balance of all things," Boyega said.

It's great to know that John Boyega has moved on and is simply enjoying the franchise as it is. With that in mind, we're looking forward to his future projects after Star Wars.
