John Boyega's Star Wars tenure was one giant missed opportunity and instead of Finn being established as the next big thing in the franchise, the character was pretty much sidelined over the course of the divisive sequel trilogy. It's no secret to a lot of fans that the British actor has made his differences with Lucasfilm public last year and people were under the impression that the idea of Finn making his return to a galaxy far, far away is now out of the window.

Now, close to a year after calling out Disney and Lucasfilm for their ill-treatment of persons of color, Boyega may have had a change of heart and is now coming out to express his interest in potentially reprising his role as Finn. In an interview with That Hashtag Show, the actor said he'd be down to make his comeback but the production company must meet his requests.

Boyega said that he'll only entertain the idea of Finn making his return to the franchise if Kathleen Kennedy and J.J. Abrams are involved. He said: "Whichever way, I am open to the conversation as long as it is Kathleen, J.J., and maybe someone else and the team, it's a no-brainer."

Kennedy being the head of Lucasfilm has drawn flak over the years for the way the sequel trilogy was handled but it looks like she gained Boyega's complete trust and this pretty much dispels rumors that there's animosity between the two given the actor's past remarks about Disney and Lucasfilm. And assuming there were any, her "honest conversation" with John may have changed how the actor views a lot of things within the company. Personally, I'd have no problem seeing him return to the Star Wars universe because like most fans, I believe that Lucasfilm did Finn dirty the first time around but hey, that's why there's this thing we call redemption, right?

Meanwhile, the entire Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
