Jodie Whittaker Confirms Her Return In Doctor Who Series 12

It looks like the Thirteenth Doctor isn't going anywhere just yet. Jodie Whittaker has confirmed that she will be back in Doctor Who Series 12.

Whittaker recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about rumors that she will not reprise her role as the Time Lord next year. The former Black Mirror star revealed that she is still eager to work on the next season.

"I really can't wait to step back in and get to work again," Whittaker admitted. "It's such an incredible role. It's been an extraordinary journey so far and I'm not quite ready to hand it over yet."

This is certainly a relief for fans who were hoping to see more of Whittaker in 2019. Some were already worried that the Thirteenth Doctor would suffer the same fate as Christopher Eccleston's Time Lord, who only appeared in one season. However, it is still unclear if current showrunner Chris Chibnall will continue to work on Doctor Who Series 12.

There have been reports that Chibnall is unhappy with the way BBC is handling Doctor Who and isn't quite up to returning for another season. However, some are hopeful that Chibnall will still take care of a few episodes which could include the Doctor Who Christmas Special next year.

The current season will wrap up this Sunday and Whittaker will be back for the holiday special that will air on New Year's Eve. She is expected to begin working on the Series 12 by early 2019.
