With a challenging character such as the Clown Prince of Crime, many people would wonder just how Joaquin Phoenix prepared for the role and ended up delivering such an amazing performance in Todd Phillips' Joker. However, it seems like the actor has answered this question multiple times that he's getting tired of being asked about it over and over.

After winning the Best Actor Golden Globe and giving a memorable and surprising acceptance speech, the actor went into an interview backstage in the press room where Phoenix was asked once again on his process of getting into the character. "Isn't this old news? I feel like I've talked about this for six months," he said. "Right? I mean, I feel like I answered this question." He then asked the interviewer if they wanted to hear "a different version" of his answer. "Should I try and change it slightly or what should I do?" he added.

It seems like he is over answering these kinds of questions about Joker, particularly this one. Despite being asked about it a couple of times, being the professional that he is, Phoenix still gave an answer.

"It was a long process," he said. "I think the way that I worked on this was quite erratic. I didn't attack it linearly." He said he was most curious about the medications (and its effects) that Arthur Fleck was taking. "That led us toward realizing we had to have this wild fluctuation of weight," he explained. Phoenix also mentioned that he read "several books" about clinical assassins that share a similar personality type to what he think Fleck had.

"There's probably so many other things that I just can't remember right now," he admitted. "But I feel like I already answered this question six months ago."
