J.K. Simmons And More Reportedly Being Recast For The Batman Movie

The Batman, which is set to introduce Robert Pattinson as the new Caped Crusader, will trigger a lot of casting changes.

According to We Got This Covered, the film will no longer be connected to any of the elements from Ben Affleck's version of the character.

This shift in focus would mean another round of recasting. The Batman will reportedly feature a new actor in the role of Alfred who was played by Jeremy Irons in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Richard E. Grant is apparently rumored to replace him. J.K. Simmons is not going to reprise his role as Jim Gordon either.

However, Warner Bros. will still try to connect Pattinson's Batman to the same universe as Wonder Woman and Aquaman by planting a few Easter eggs that they will pay off at a later date.

It was always highly likely that the Batman we'll see is going to be an etirely different version, one who is still early into his crusade. After all, it will be a bit difficult to sell it as a young version of Batfleck. It has been reported in the past that we'll be seeing a whole new Batman. Matt Reeves, who is set to direct the project, is allegedly going to focus on the detective prowess of the hero as opposed to his fighting.

The Batman will also apparently introduce a set of new characters. Vanessa Hudgens is reportedly frontrunner as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman while Josh Gad is being considered for the role of Penguin. Theo Rossi and Toby Kebbell are reportedly set to play Bane and Scarecrow, respectively. Thomas and Martha Wayne will also allegedly be featured in the film with Jason Clarke and Keri Russell playing the characters.

For now, however, nothing has been confirmed yet. There is no official announcement of Pattinson as the new Batman yet although it was reported that he was ready to close the deal.
