J.K. Rowling Addresses Fans on the Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts

Though it's not explicitly stated in the books, the climactic scene in Harry Potter, the Battle of Hogwarts is said to have taken place on May 2, 1998, and on the anniversary of that event, fans have come online to celebrate their love for the series. Author J.K. Rowling, of course, took the opportunity to address her fans on Twitter:

Of course the book came out back in 2007, but a lot of fans who follow the books meticulously know that the series takes place in the 90s. With the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, coming out in 1997, that means it took Rowling 10 years to finish all seven books.

10 years… kind of feels like the time it will take for George R.R. Martin to pump out The Winds of Winter.

Though Harry Potter's story may have ended a while back, the Potter franchise continues to chug along. 2016 saw the making of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and we have a whole new era of the Wizarding World on film with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Going back to Fantastic Beasts, I kind of wish that it was just a one-shot anthology with WB deciding to make more movies based on the spinoff books. I would have loved to watch a Quidditch through the Ages film or even a Magical Me starring a young Gilderoy Lockhart.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to come out Nov. 16.
