J.J. Abrams Teases Cloverfield 3

Bad Robot Productions, a company owned by J.J. Abrams, will bring us 10 Cloverfield Lane next month, and fans have been speculating about its connection with 2008's found footage monster film Cloverfield. It looks like Abrams and his production company has bigger plans for the franchise.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Abrams mentioned that a "larger conceit" was at play with the franchise.

"I would be lying if I didn't say there was something else that, if we're lucky enough to do it, could be really cool that connects some stories.
This is just this movie, and it's only two films that we're talking about right now. There is something else that we'd like to do, and hopefully we'll get a shot."

It's possible that Abrams might be referring to one of the other mystery box projects the prdocution company already has in development, like Collider and God Particle. It sounds like J.J. Abrams and his company are building up their own monster universe, and I'm excited to see them explore the possibilities if they're given a shot to make another Cloverfield film.

10 Cloverfield Lane was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and is scheduled to release in theaters on May 11, 2016.
