Last month, word came out that Star Wars and Star Trek director J.J. Abrams and his production company Bad Robot had signed on a major deal with Warner Brothers to produce original films, shows, and videogames for the media company.
Since then, rumors about Abrams creating Superman and Green Lantern movies for the DC Extended Universe have intensified. Now, a new rumor suggests that the filmmaker may very well take on the entire Justice League when he works for DC.
According to a report by Cosmic Book News, insiders say that one of the biggest reasons why Abrams signed with WWarner Brothers is because the director is interested in tackling DC characters – Superman, Green Lantern, and the Justice League.
Superman was first rumored when a reporter for Variety teased Abrams dealing with the Last Son of Krypton.
"I'm glad JJ is back in the rump. I hope the new Warner Bros stuff leads to more stuff… someone with a cape perhaps… that's a hint," the writer detailed in his report.
It's an interesting rumor, that's for sure. Abrams has done well for the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises, reviving both with new and updated films. We're sure that the director could do the same for the DCEU.
The only question is what kind of reboot Abrams might have planned for the comic book movie franchise. Do Abram's new movies mean that we'll no longer get to see Henry Cavill as Superman, or Ben Affleck as Batman?
We'll have to wait and see. Remember, it's all just a rumor for now. Take everything with a grain of salt.
