It looks like Netflix is losing one of its most promising Marvel characters. Jessica Henwick has just said goodbye to Colleen Wing following the Iron Fist Season 3 cancellation announcement.
Henwick posted a tribute video to the Marvel series on her official Instagram account. However, her caption somehow confirms that Colleen will not be returning in the other Netflix shows. Check out the post below.
"Two seasons of Fist, one Defenders, and a Cage later... thank you to the cast, crew, and fans for this journey. Playing Colleen changed my life," Henwick wrote. "Also, just posted a full BTS video from season 1 on my link!"
This is certainly disappointing for people who had been hoping Colleen's new powers will be explored in Season 3. The second season concluded with Danny Rand passing on his powers to Colleen, who is somehow capable of manifesting the Iron Fist into her katana. It would have been interesting to see a female Iron Fist taking on Davos.
Netflix and Disney issued a joint statement about the series.
"Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew, and showrunners ... We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on."
Finn Jones immediately addressed the cancellation, saying that "defending the greatest city in the world amongst the most talented and warmest people has been a privilege and a joy." The actor also wrote that he was "blessed to have taken this journey and grateful for the ongoing support."
The next Marvel series that will air on Netflix is Daredevil Season 3, which premieres on October 19.
