We probably don't need to put out a spoiler warning anymore but Tony Stark isn't the only one who was killed off in Avengers: Endgame. There was another equally painful death earlier as Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton were sent to procure the Soul Stone from Vormir. Now Jeremy Renner has shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes look at Black Widow and Ronin before the ultimate sacrifice.
Renner shared the photo on his official Instagram account. Not surprisingly, he added a touching caption that honored Scarlett Johansson. Check it out below.
"Behind the scenes with this goddess!" Renner wrote, adding the hashtag #scarjo, #strength, and #honor.
We're certainly loving how Renner and Johansson are holding hands in the Endgame photo. It appears to be the scene right before Nat and Clint decided that one of them should be sacrificed so they could get the Soul Stone. Although the two briefly fought over who should take the fall, Nat managed to prevent Clint from jumping off the cliff and made the sacrifice herself.
Although it seemed like an honorable way to die, most fans weren't happy about Black Widow's death in Endgame. Some believed that it was a disappointing end for one of the strongest female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nevertheless, it appears that Natasha's sacrifice was a huge loss that led to an even greater victory.
Natasha might be dead in the current MCU timeline but that doesn't mean we've seen the last of her. The Black Widow film has reportedly started production as Johansson was spotted sporting the character's trademark red hair.
Black Widow is expected to premiere in 2020.
