Jeffrey Dean Morgan Set To Return In Supernatural After Nearly A Decade’s Absence

It's been years since Jeffrey Dean Morgan's been spotted on Supernatural but it looks like The Walking Dead Star is finally making his way back to the popular dark fantasy television series, reprising his role as John Winchester in the show's 300th episode, "Lebanon".

Supernatural executive producer Andrew Dabb just recently made the announcement in a new statement (via CBR) and according to the shows' big wig, everyone's excited to see Morgan return to the series.

"We're incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character... and a few other surprise guest stars," Dab said in the statement he released to the public.

For those who aren't that familiar with Dean's character, John Winchester became a hunter raising his two sons to fight the supernatural after his wife Mary was killed by the demon Azazel. John disappears during the first season of Supernatural, leaving his sons Sam and Dean, the show's main protagonists, to find him.

In the season 2 premiere, John sacrificed his life to save the life of his son, Dean, though Morgan did return for a short cameo in the episode "All Hell Breaks Loose: Part 2," the finale episode for season 2.

It's been a decade since then, and now that the series is at its 14th season, it seems like Morgan is set for another appearance on the show.

"Lebanon," the episode that Morgan is set to appear in, is named after the town in which Sam and Dean's bunker resides. The episode is set to air on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 8 pm ET.

Supernatural airs every Thursday at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW.
