Javier Bardem Says Dune 2 Will Surprise Book Readers

There is little doubt that people are excited about Dune Part II especially since it means we'll get to see Paul Atreides in action. However, that doesn't mean that the sequel will be a page-by-page adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel. Javier Bardem is hyping up the second movie, stating that book readers will be "surprised" in the upcoming Denis Villeneuve flick!

Javier Bardem only appeared briefly in Dune Part I where he played the Fremen tribe leader Stilgar. However, he is expected to play a bigger role in the sequel and Bardem confirmed with Comicbook.com that he already has an idea of what will happen in the second movie.

"I've read the new draft," Bardem revealed, "and I think they've done an amazing job of putting together the pieces in a way that is gonna surprise people."

He continued, "They won't be surprised [by what happens], obviously, because they've read the book, but they'll be surprised by the way they put it together. I was very moved by it."

Bardem then added that he really liked what Denis Villeneuve had done with the film.

"It's a movie that is full, and you can feel the weight of it, and at the same time [you can enjoy] the spectacularity of it. [I can't wait] to go back to the desert with those people, and I'm so happy to go back with Denis, who is one of the greatest directors ever. He's a lovely man," he said.

There is little doubt that Dune Part 2 will exceed people's expectations. With that in mind, we can't wait for the sequel to begin filming soon.

Dune 2 is expected to bring back Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, and Dave Bautista. The second film is set to begin production in Summer this year and is already scheduled for release on October 20, 2023.
