Jason Reitman Speaks Up About Controversial Ghostbusters Comment

Ghostbusters fans were pretty excited when word came out that Paramount Studios was making a direct sequel to the original films, but it looks like there's a bit of uproar going over a few comments made by the film's director Jason Reitman, and the response isn't all that good.

The son of Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman, original Ghostbusters movie director, just recently drew flake over Ghostbusters 3 comments that he made will he was speaking with comedian Bill Burr on his Monday Morning podcast. During his interview with Burr, Reitman said that his movie was going to be a love letter to fellow Ghostbusters fans and somehow some interpreted the comment as a jab at the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot by Paul Feig.

"This is going to be a love letter to Ghostbusters," the filmmaker said on the podcast, "I love this franchise. I grew up watching it. I consider myself the first Ghostbusters fan. I was like seven years old when that movie came out and I love it. I want to make a movie for my fellow Ghostbusters fans."

After being hit by wave after wave of negative comments on Twitter, Reitman has decided to respond to the backlash, saying that he had no intention of disparaging the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.

"Wo, that came out wrong! I have nothing but admiration for Paul and Leslie and Kate and Melissa and Kristen and the bravery with which they made Ghostbusters 2016. They expanded the universe and made an amazing movie!" Reitman wrote in a post on Twitter.

The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot featured an all-female cast and while a lot of fans were hoping that the film would succeed, Feig's Ghostbusters movie was both a critical and commercial flop. While cast members like Leslie Jones attribute the film's failings to sexism, Ghostbusters 2016 failed to do well because of a poor script that featured poor jokes.
