The DC Universe is in the midst of a massive creative shake-up that is currently sending shockwaves to the entire comic book film community. In a bombshell scoop that has the entire fandom buzzing, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the studio's plans to restructure the DCU and that means removing familiar faces from the franchise and canceling several projects altogether, including Wonder Woman 3 and Black Adam 2. Their current film slate remains intact, with films such as The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still hitting cinemas as advertised.

However, it looks like Jason Momoa's days playing Arthur Curry are numbered but there's a huge catch. The trade also reports that the 43-year-old star is getting recast as Lobo in an undisclosed project. For weeks, speculation has been high that Momoa will actually play the cosmic mercenary in the "new" DCU and both he and Gunn have been teasing it relentlessly on social media.

It's a win-win situation for Momoa because not only was he among the people responsible for the DCU's first billion at the box office, there's now a solid chance that he'll portray his dream comic book role. Sadly, the same thing can't be said for his colleagues and as it stands, it looks like he's the only member of the SnyderVerse cast who will survive the DC Studios purge.

Meanwhile, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit cinemas on December 25, 2023.
