Jared Leto’s New Marvel Role Won’t Interfere With His Role As The DCEU's Joker

News came out today that Sony just cast Jared Leto as Morbius the living vampire in his very own standalone film, but while the actor's now become part of the Marvel family, the DC Extended Universe star promises that his ties with Sony's Spider-Man Villain universe won't really interfere with his role as DC's Joker.

According to a report by Variety, while the Academy Award-winning actor will be busy playing the tragic antihero Michael Morbius for Sony, his entanglements with the studio won't impact the standalone Joker movie that Warner Brothers had given him. The studio announced the solo Joker movie earlier this month, another Joker film outside of the one it's also making with Joaquin Phoenix.

It certainly seems like Leto's getting a lot of roles in the comic book movie industry.

For those who aren't familiar with the character, Michael Morbius starts out in Marvel comics as a scientist looking for a way to cure a rare blood disease in his system. However, one of his experiments went awry, giving him vampire-like symptoms like the fear of sunlight and the thirds for blood. Morbius was created by Roy Thomas and designed by Gil Kane, first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 back in 1971. Earlier on Morbius was one of Spidey's enemies but throughout his comic book journey, the character was redeemed, becoming an anti-hero with his very own comic book series.

There are very few details about Sony's Morbius movie right now, but the film will join Venom and Silver and Black in the studio's own Marvel Universe.

The film doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
