Jared Leto’s Morbius The Living Vampire Movie Set To Begin Production Early Next Year

Now that Venom's finally made its big October-box-office-record-breaking debut, it looks like Sony's begun looking forward to the other projects it has in its Universe of Marvel Characters. The studio has just recently announced the production date for Jared Leto's upcoming Morbius the Living Vampire movie, and it looks like the project is set to begin filming early next year.

Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad, the Sony producers in charge of the studio's Universe of Marvel characters, just recently spoke about the status of Morbius the Living Vampire in an interview with Collider. During their discussion with the publication, Tolmach and Arad confirmed that the film is on its way to production with a script by Lost in Space's Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

According to the Arad, Sony is currently targeting February to begin working on Morbius the Living Vampire.

"Yeah, the plan is early part of next year. We're still working on it," Tolmach agreed.

Sony must be pretty excited to get the gears on its Universe of Marvel Characters rolling while Venom still has a bit of steam to it. Sure the Symbiote standalone movie may have been the recipient of poor ratings from critics, however, audiences seemed to enjoy the film's brash, bumbling and cartoonish humor. Beating Marvel Phase 1 movies like Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, and more recently Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hardy's comic book movie has given Sony the confidence it needs to begin work on its own superhero franchise.

Venom is currently screening in cinemas.
