Jared Leto Reportedly Returning For James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

It might sound a little bit odd considering his reception in the first Suicide Squad movie, however, there are rumors circulating online saying that Jared Leto might reprise his role as the Joker in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad movie.

According to We Got This Covered, there's a production document for Warner Brother's new Suicide Squad movie that features Leto's name, sparking speculation that the musician and actor may very well return in the DC Extended Universe movie.

While this report has yet to be confirmed by Warner Brothers, the site speculates whether Leto could full return as the Joker in The Suicide Squad, or whether he would be appearing in a cameo or in a flashback just to connect the sequel to the original movie.

Of course, fans ought to take this report with a grain of salt. As interesting as it might be to see Leto get another chance at becoming Joker, it seems unlikely that the actor would work well together with James Gunn.

Before the Guardians of the Galaxy director was embroiled in his own controversy and subsequently "fired" from Marvel, Gunn insinuated that Leto was actually a pedophile. The first time was back in 2015 where the director offered details about the actor's sex life saying that "Leto sleeps with underage girls," and then later in 2018 where he asks Dylan Sprouse sarcastically whether "He starts at 18 on the internet?"

Besides their rocky relationship, WB seems to be trying to distance Harley (Margot Robbie) from her toxic relationship with Joker, especially in light of the #MeToo movement. Let's just wait and see whether these rumors about Leto's return actually has any truth to it.

The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6, 2021.
