James Gunn Will Continue To Influence MCU, Says Kevin Feige

He might no longer be directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but James Gunn will continue to be a major influence to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's what Kevin Feige wants every Marvel fan to remember.

The Marvel Studios president recently spoke to Cinemablend about the future of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has not yet been given a production start date nor a premiere date. Feige stated that in addition to using Gunn's script for the film, the director's presence will still be felt in the MCU.

"His influence was Guardians. It was Guardians. It was his input on Guardians and the Avengers films, as you've seen in Infinity War, and on the Guardians 3 script, which we're still using. So you'll see that influence. I think online, sort of the notion of ‘architect across multiple cosmic things' was slightly blown out of proportion," Feige said.

If you're wondering about the last part of Feige's comment, it has a lot to do with Gunn previously claiming that he would play a major part in bringing the cosmic side of the MCU. Although this would have been possible, it's no longer happening.

It's good to hear that Gunn's script for the third Guardians movie will still be used. However, it looks like Disney and Marvel are struggling to find a director who would be willing to take on the project. Taika Waititi, Edgar Wright, and Chris Miller have all previously declared that Gunn is the only one who should possibly work on the sequel.
