David Corenswet's acting career is about to get launched into the stratosphere. After months of speculation, it was officially confirmed earlier this week that the rising star has been cast as the next Superman and for the most part, fans are genuinely thrilled with DC Studios' decision.
The actor made a name for himself in shows like Hollywood and The Politician and even before his casting broke the internet, fans already noticed his striking resemblance to ex-Superman actor Henry Cavill.
Well, it turns out that even Superman: Legacy director James Gunn is well aware of their resemblance and that is the least of his concerns.

According to Hollywood tipster Jeff Sneider (via Above the Line), his source told him that Gunn is well aware of the fans' sentiment about Corenswet looking quite similar to Cavill, and surprisingly enough, the DC Studios co-CEO "had no problem with that resemblance".
Sneider added that the internet may have greatly influenced the 29-year-old's Superman casting. For the uninitiated, Corenswet has long been on the fans' radar when it comes to casting choices, and given how Gunn also spends his time checking Twitter, it's likely that the studio took the fandom's request into consideration.

I'm pretty sure fans will eventually get over their resemblance and at the end of the day, it's all about the portrayal. We've already established that Corenswet looks the part and to be fair, he's also a pretty fine actor and I have complete faith that he'll do the role justice.
His casting also tells us something truly important — that James Gunn is indeed in touch with his audience and it's something that is quite refreshing to see after the previous DC regime failed to acknowledge its fandom. The franchise is definitely in good hands.
