Now that James Gunn is spearheading the new DCU franchise alongside Peter Safran, there have been questions about which actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy films could also follow suit and join as well.
When the third film was released a few months ago, several cast members expressed their interest in being part of Gunn's DCU with some of them even confirming that they already had talks with the director about their potential role in the franchise.
So far, none of the core cast members from the MCU trilogy (aside from Sean Gunn) is officially confirmed to be joining the DCU, but a new post from the DC Studios co-chairman has suggested that its main star might become involved soon.
Chris Pratt's Potential Role in the DCU
Gunn recently responded to a post from a fan on Threads that asked him whether the cast members of the Guardians of the Galaxy films such as Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff will show up in the second season of Peacemaker as themselves.
"There are reasons I wouldn’t want either of those actors to play themselves in the DCU!" he answered.
While the DC Studios co-chairman didn't confirm that Pratt will be part of the DCU, his response to the fan post suggests that we might see him play a significant part in the franchise and not just play a fictionalized version of himself.
Since the actors are on strike at the moment and are not allowed to be in a meeting or negotiations with the studios, it might take a while before we'll hear any actual updates about Pratt's potential involvement in the franchise.
Some DC fans have been clamoring for Gunn to cast Pratt as the DCU's Booster Gold, which could happen given that they are working on a TV series based on the character.
We have also noticed recently that several actors and key creatives behind the scenes have become part of both the MCU and the DC franchise which shows us that there is no stiff competition between them and more people are willing to embrace being part of both instead of choosing sides.

Once the strikes end, we might be hearing more casting news about the DCU and it won't be surprising if some of the names that we will hear came from the MCU trilogy.
The first DCU film Superman: Legacy is slated to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
