James Gunn Says He Won’t Include Any Fox Characters In His Film After Disney Deal

Now that Avengers: Infinity War is finally at its last few weeks in cinemas, it looks like Marvel director James Gunn is getting ready to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III. Though there haven't that many updates about the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the director reveals that he's already deep into writing the script for the film.

Taking to Facebook, Gunn decided to update fans about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III saying that he's been writing the script for more than a year now and that he's currently in the process of rewriting the script.

"I'm more than a year into the process, so the script is far along. For many many months I first write the treatment which is 80 pages or so with photographs," the director explained in his post. "That turns into GotG – I'm now rewriting and making sure my rough draft works."

The Marvel director also talked about how Disney's acquisition of Fox was going to affect his film. The acquisition is expected to be completed by summer next year, and that means that Marvel will be free to bring in characters from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and X-Force by then. However, it looks like Gunn has no plans to integrate the mutants into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III.

"Not gonna happen in any major way. Too far along," the director said when he was asked whether he'd include any mutants in the film.

It's pretty understandable – 2019 is still far off and Gunn has already had a year of writing the script. There's still hope for a cameo though. Who knows, we might get a bit of an end credit scene with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
