James Gunn Says Brightburn 2 Could Happen After Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

There's a good reason why fans are so happy that James Gunn has returned to social media. After all, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director has always enjoyed interacting with his followers and sharing some interesting details about his projects. For instance, Gunn has just confirmed that a Brightburn sequel is being discussed and could happen after GOTGV3.

Gunn recently paid tribute to MAD Magazine, which is expected to cease publication by the end of the year, on his official Instagram account. One fan left a totally unrelated comment asking if Gunn would "be so kind and direct" a Brightburn sequel and the Slither director had a hopeful response.

"I think I'm tied up for the next few years with Suicide Squad and then Guardians, but we're talking about the sequel," Gunn wrote.

The conclusion of Brightburn certainly left things open for Brandon Breyer's return after his murderous rampage in Kansas. Although the sequel could reveal what happened to the boy after he killed his own adoptive parents, there is also a possibility that there will be more superpowered beings that will be introduced. Either way, Gunn has a lot of things to work with so there is little doubt that Brightburn 2 will be just as terrifying as the first film.

Gunn is currently preparing for the Suicide Squad sequel and is expected to begin filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 once the DC movie is completed. Hopefully, we'll get an update on Brightburn 2 in the near future.
