James Gunn Reveals Official Runtime For The Suicide Squad

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has continued to make buzz ever since the first trailer was released. Fans have been excited to see the film and see what Gunn has done to the film.

In a recently released update, Gunn has officially revealed the official runtime for The Suicide Squad. Gunn confirmed the movie's run time after responding to a follower on Twitter.

The director revealed that the movie is 132 minutes long or two hours and 12 minutes. Gunn stated that he wrote, filmed, and edited the best movie he could which ended up at that length in a follow-up tweet. He added that no one ever planned for the movie to be that long.
Gunn's The Suicide Squad will last nine minutes longer than the 2016 version of the film. However, Gunn's version will be four minutes shorter than the 2016 film. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) remains to be the longest DCEU movie that was released theatrically at 152 minutes.

2020's Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is the shortest theatrically released film at 109 minutes. If the non-theatrical release is considered with the director's cuts, Zack Snyder's Justice League is the longest movie in the franchise, with a 242-minute run time.

The critical response for Gunn's The Suicide Squad remains unknown. However, Joel Kinnaman who plays Rick Flag hyped the movie as the director's best film as of yet. He stated that the movie is insane and the vision was already clear, right from the beginning.

Gunn is currently working on a spin-off series with Peacemaker set to be released in theaters and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
