It's been four years since Joe and Anthony Russo last directed a superhero flick and while it seemed like the duo has been shying away from the comic book film limelight, it looks like they're more than ready to return to the genre that pretty much cemented their place in Hollywood.

Speaking with ComicBook, the Russo Brothers expressed their interest in taking on a DC project in the future. Considering the MCU veterans are no longer tied to a Marvel contract and with James Gunn among the people leading the charge at DC Studios, they say that switching to the other team would be a "no-brainer".

Unsurprisingly, the Russos' statement already caught the attention of DC Studios' co-head James Gunn who offered a gleaming response at the prospect of acquiring Joe and Anthony.

When asked by one of his followers if he'll oppose the idea of the Avengers: Endgame directors potentially making the DCU jump in the future, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 filmmaker simply said: "No I love those guys."

It's worth noting that the Russos have chosen to take a break from the MCU and despite rumblings that they'll helm Avengers: Secret Wars, Joe and Anthony made it clear that they don't have plans to return to the Marvel realm anytime soon.

Of course, this is a prime opportunity for DC Studios, and considering they're once again starting with a blank canvas, it wouldn't hurt to get the services of the Russos who are bonafide geniuses when it comes to the superhero genre.

James Gunn and Peter Safran would be foolish not to get them involved in some capacity. Hopefully, they'll at least be considered to direct the upcoming Batman reboot.

Meanwhile, Superman: Legacy is slated for theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
