James Gunn Feels That Marvel and DC Benefit From Each Other's Success

The Marvel and DC war has been going on for ages, with no chance of stopping anytime soon. While you can prefer one over the other, there are certain fans who are mean and won't let you enjoy your preferred choice, which is really annoying. James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy and 2021's The Suicide Squad, made an interesting statement about the whole Marvel vs DC debacle. Or should I say DC vs Marvel? Because of the alphabet.

On Twitter, Gunn acknowledged that people are allowed to have favorite brands but you shouldn't have to tear down DC to enjoy Marvel or vice-versa. The director also smartly points out that you can enjoy the other products too since there is no harm in that. Do you hear that, edgy DC fans? Don't be ashamed that you laughed at a Marvel joke, geez.

Some might argue that Gunn is talking from a point of privilege since he has directed Marvel movies and is slated to direct a big DC one soon. Then again, the fact that Gunn is doing so proves that he loves the comics both companies have released and we hope that things get better from here on out.

As someone who selfishly watches both Marvel and DC movies so that we can get more graphic novels from the publishers (fight me), I couldn't agree more. While there will be some people who keep dunking on Captain Marvel or Batman v Superman, I'll be here trying to enjoy the movies from both companies and giving criticism when needed.

The Suicide Squad will be coming out on August 6, 2021.
