It no longer comes as a surprise how James Gunn was given the go signal to produce a second season for Peacemaker because the show is easily one of this year's sleeper hits which says a lot considering the year is only getting started. Naturally, DC Extended Universe fans rejoiced following the exciting announcement of the hit HBO Max series getting renewed but as soon as the finale dropped, several rumors regarding Peacemaker Season 2 immediately circulated online.

One major rumor about Season 2 is that it will finally mark the DCEU debut of the iconic Batman villain Bane. The report comes from the folks at Giant Freakin Robot who said he'll be one of the show's main antagonists. The rumor quickly spread like wildfire and eventually caught the attention of Gunn who called it "bullsh*t".

In a tweet, not only did Gunn debunk the report but he also said that he has yet to lay plans for what happens in Peacemaker Season 2. He said: "Don’t you know by now to make really sure of this stuff before posting? This is bullshit. No one knows what’s coming but me, & even I don’t fully know."

This is not the first time Gunn has dismissed a rumor about Bane joining the DCEU. Last September, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker shot down a report claiming that the venom-injected villain will show up in Peacemaker. He did say that he isn't exactly against the idea so I guess there's an actual possibility that Bane is in consideration. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

All eight episodes of Peacemaker are now available for streaming on HBO Max.
