Since their appointment as co-CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran have made it clear that their rebooted DC Universe will still put the spotlight on the franchise's biggest characters, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

They're also taking it as a prime opportunity to introduce lesser-known characters to the fold, something Gunn has been really good at, especially during his long Marvel Cinematic Universe tenure.

Surprisingly enough, one of the D-list heroes fans have been dying to see in the DCU is Booster Gold. While he's considered a low-tier hero, Booster has already made various appearances in live-action and animation although Michael Jon Carter has yet to make his big-screen debut.

Rumors have been persistent that Gunn is eyeing Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt for the role and while the director did confirm that he'd love to work with his Marvel cast in the DCU, he never said anything about Pratt playing the character.

Just recently, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul had the rumor mill spinning after Reddit user Durgens_68 claimed that he's already in talks with DC Studios to star in a Booster Gold series. The rumor even claims that the studio wanted him to cameo in Blue Beetle for obvious reasons.

However, Gunn was quick to debunk the rumor on Twitter, saying: "Zero truth to that. I like Aaron a lot personally and professionally. But we’ve never discussed this. And the rest of it is also 100% made up."

Much like Pratt, Paul is already in his 40s, and given how DC Studios is on the lookout for younger actors they can build the franchise around, that easily takes him off the conversation. That's not to say though that actors their age don't have a place in the DCU because they can easily get cast as other characters.

Meanwhile, DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is set to hit cinemas on July 11, 2025.
