And yes, that includes the Man of Steel himself who could be played by any of the three actors who auditioned for the part, including Hollywood star David Corenswet. Meanwhile, Nicholas Hoult is rumored to be the top pick to play Lex Luthor in the project.

As for Lois Lane, a who's who of A-list stars, from Emma Mackey to Samara Weaving are reportedly vying for the part. Amid all the hype Superman: Legacy has been able to generate in just one day, James Gunn is quick to address the reports but instead of confirming the stuff we've already read online, he's surprisingly playing coy about it this time around.

Taking to Twitter, the DC Studios co-CEO wrote: "For all of you asking, I would never comment on who is or isn’t AUDITIONING for a role. That’s the actor’s business only & isn’t something I’d make public unless they did it first after the fact (like @GlennHowerton or @ZacharyLevi having auditioned for Star-Lord & being top choices)."

Interestingly, Gunn revealed that only one actor has been cast in the film so far, and they'll be playing a character who isn't a "regular player" in the Superman mythos.

He added: "For now, only one person has been CAST in Superman: Legacy, and it isn’t any of the regular players in the Superman world." Check out Gunn's response below:

I don't know about you but reading between the lines, we can pretty much say that Gunn is in fact confirming THR's casting report. Now, whether DC Studios actually fast-tracks the process remains to be seen but judging by the names included in the rumored shortlist, Gunn might end up nailing the project's casting. Exciting times indeed.

DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is currently eyeing a July 11, 2025 release date.
