James Gunn Addresses Whether Disney Interferes on MCU Movies

Whether it's the MCU, DCU, or another franchise property, there have been speculations about the role of studio interference in those projects and a lot of people are wondering whether they really affected the quality and overall results of the films, especially those that received mixed or negative reception.

With the divisive results of the Phase Four projects in the MCU, some fans are starting to speculate that their quality was impacted by the interference of the overlords at Disney (which owns Marvel) and there were reports that they have dictated the runtime of films such as Thor: Love and Thunder.

Recently, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn addressed on Twitter the fan speculations that Disney is interfering with the making of the upcoming film where he assured that the parent company has "never touched" any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and it is in "great shape."

"No, they aren't. They've never touched any of the Guardians' movies. They movie's almost finished being edited, is in great shape, and Fred and Greg (my editors) and I are the only ones editing anything," the director wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Gunn explained that studio interferences only happen if they don't like the movie and iterated that he hasn't experienced being forced to make any changes in his movies including the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

He also wrote, "Like at all the studios, if the studio doesn't like the movie, they interfere. If they do, they don't. It's pretty simple. I've never been forced into a change on any of my movies, including the Guardians films."

Based on his comments, it sounds like fans have nothing to worry about Disney interfering with the results of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and it looks like they are letting Gunn do his vision for the film, especially since it will be the bookend of the trilogy that he started. It's exciting to see what the final results will be and how Gunn will conclude the team's journey in the MCU.
