'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' Star Rob McElhenney To Direct Minecraft Movie

A live-action film based on the popular video game Minecraft is coming, and now, the Swedish game developer Mojang has announced the director for the upcoming adaptation: Rob McElhenney, the writer and star of the American sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia.

The Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy was originally attached to the project then bailed after Mojang disagreed with his vision for the movie. It's hard to speculate the concept of the Minecraft film. How could they possibly make a movie out of a sandbox game that many consider "The LEGO of video games". It would be interesting to see what McElhenney could come up with.

Some of you may have seen this guy hanging around MINECON in London a couple weeks ago. He's Rob McElhenney, and he's going to be directing the upcoming Minecraft movie.
