Warner Bros. Discovery delivered some earth-shattering news about the future of the now-rebranded DC Universe. This week, it was officially announced that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn along with film producer Peter Safran will be leading DC Studios moving forward. The news comes just days following Walter Hamada's exit as the production outfit's former boss.

For months, Gunn has insisted that his time in the MCU is numbered and he plans to conclude the GOTG franchise with the upcoming Vol. 3. Of course, his new executive role erases any chance of him directing another Marvel movie in the foreseeable future and as it stands, he's only got two projects left to be showcased before he departs from the billion-dollar franchise.

Over the last two days, fans have been curious to know about Kevin Feige's reaction following the bombshell news. Now, the Marvel Studios boss is finally speaking up. In an interview with Deadline at the world premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the MCU patriarch said he'd be first in line to see what the co-head of DC Studios has in store for fans.

However, he did remind everyone that Gunn is still tied to his Marvel duties until next year. He said: "Well, he has got a lot of work to do for Marvel between now and May, which he’s well aware of. But after that, I’ll be first in line to see anything he does."

Feige is a long time fan of Gunn's work and I don't think there's any bad blood between them now that the MCU director is moving forward with his career.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will begin streaming on November 25th, exclusively on Disney+
