Hell’s Paradise and Naruto are two popular shounen anime in their respective times. Aside from their similar genre, both are quite similar in many ways, particularly in showing the life of a ninja. Another thing fans notice is that Hell’s Paradise’s Tao is somewhat the same as Naruto’s Chakra.

The Concept Behind Tao in Hell’s Paradise
Tao is the power system in Hell’s Paradise. It is a life force energy that living and non-living things have.
In the fantasy anime, Tao was explained based on Taoist concepts, particularly the Yin and Yang.
Just like any power in shounen anime, Tao is not easy to master, but doing so grants the user maximum powers and abilities.
Sounds quite familiar, right? While the same concept is quite related to Hunter x Hunter’s Nen, there is another show that fits almost all of the properties of Tao.
Naruto’s Chakra and Its Properties
Out of all the shounen anime, Hell’s Paradise’s Tao is most closely related to Naruto’s Chakra.
In Naruto, their life energy is referred to as Chakra, which is a lifeform on planets.
Humans originally did not have Chakra until Hagoromo and Hamura Otsutuki were born.
Their mother, Kaguya, ate the planet’s Chakra fruit, giving her sons innate Chakra.
Hagoromo then spread Chakra through the use of ninshu, which connects the spiritual energy of humans.
As time passed, Chakra was developed as a weapon and is now used as ninjutsu.
Chakra is created when two primal energies are combined: physical and spiritual.
When these are merged together, the Chakra becomes powerful. This concept is exactly the same as Tao.
So, Is Tao the Same as Chakra?
Based on the properties mentioned above, we can say that the concepts of Tao in Hell's Paradise and Chakra in Naruto are the same.
The two are life forces created when there is a merger between two elements.
In Tao’s case, it is Yin and Yang, while Chakra focuses on physical and spiritual energies.
Both are invisible to the naked eye but are extremely powerful when used.
How Are Tao and Chakra Different?
Both Tao and Chakra can help their users reach their maximum abilities, giving them god-like powers when used correctly.
The only difference is that Chakra has more categories and specializations than Tao.
Each person has their own unique Chakra, giving them their unique Chakra signature.
Conversely, Tao has a later process called Flower Tao where humans undergo Arborification, a transformation that boosts their skills.
However, if the user cannot fight it off, they will turn into trees.
While there are some differences between the two, Chakra and Tao are almost similar in that Naruto fans feel somewhat nostalgic while watching Hell’s Paradise.
