Mushoku Tensei Season 2 introduced fans to Fitz, an enigmatic character shrouded in mystery. The truth behind her identity was revealed early on in the series, but is Fitz also Sylphy? Why did she have to conceal the truth about herself?
The Mushoku Tensei anime, also known as Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, is based on the light novel of the same name written by Rifujin na Maganote and illustrated by Shirotaka.

Who Is Fitz in Mushoku Tensei?
Fitz is Princess Ariel Anemoi Asura’s personal bodyguard. He joined Ariel’s personal bodyguard squad after the death of Derrick Redbat, who gave his life protecting the princess from a Terminate Boar attack.
Fitz is first seen in Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 0, titled Guardian Fitz. He has a mysterious personality, as he hardly speaks. He also dons black glasses and is fiercely loyal to Princess Ariel.
Are Fitz and Sylphy the Same Person?
Yes, Fitz is Sylphy in the Mushoku Tensei anime. The opening of the second season’s Episode 0 shows a mysterious girl falling from the sky, and this girl is none other than Sylphy.
After the disastrous teleport incident, Sylphy found herself suddenly teleported high above the Silver Palace.
Her heart was pounding as she desperately tried to control her descent using her magic.
Despite her best efforts, the impact was harsh, leaving her with fractured legs and aching bruises.
Before she crashed into the ground, Sylphy eliminated a Terminate Boar who was ready to kill Ariel.
Unfortunately, she crashed hard and remained unconscious. Ariel and Luke then quickly located her and took her in.
After Sylphy regained consciousness, she found herself in a room inside the royal palace, which is likely Ariel’s bedroom.
Sylphy then told Ariel that she was from Fittoa Region’s Buena Village. Ariel told her that Fittoa had been destroyed, and she feared that her home no longer existed.
She added that even finding her friends and family will be an uphill task.
Ariel coerced Sylphy to become one of her mage bodyguards. The princess told her that she would help her reunite with her family.
She suggested that Sylphy must change her identity and adopt a new name.
And that’s how Sylphy became Fitz, a young boy who started guarding Ariel, alongside Luke.

Who Knows Fitz Is Sylphy?
Keeping Sylphy’s true identity hidden from the rest of the Asura Kingdom is important.
After Sylphy’s fall from the sky, she ended up in the Asura Kingdom, which is considered trespassing; a grave offense in the kingdom.
Ariel promised Fitz that she would ensure her identity remains a secret from the rest of the world. It appears that Luke also knows that Fitz is Sylphy.
Another character who learns the truth about Fitz's identity is Rudeus Greyrat, her childhood friend whom she met again at the Ranoa Magic Academy.
Fitz and Rudeus were notorious for having a cat-and-mouse game during Rudeus' time in Ranoa. Eventually, Rudeus comes to realize who Fitz truly is, and they both address their feelings for each other.
