We all know that Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes is the main villain in Fast X, the tenth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. But what about Cipher, the main villain of The Fate of the Furious? Is Cipher a villain in Fast X?
Cipher is not Dante’s ally, but that doesn’t mean she’s welcome for a barbeque at the Toretto’s. While Cipher doesn’t appear to be the villain in Fast X, that doesn’t mean she can be trusted.

Is Cipher a Villain in Fast X?
In Fast X, a bleeding Cipher appears on Dom’s doorstep after Dante showed up and turned her men against her. She tells Dom that she met the devil after believing that she was the devil.
Cipher warns Dom that Dante Reyes, son of deceased drug lord Hernan Reyes, is coming after him for revenge. Cipher tells Dom “The enemy of my enemy is you,” something similar to what Deckard Shaw once told Dom in Furious 7.
Later on, Cipher is sent to a black site prison in Antarctica where she meets with Letty. Letty is forced to work with Cipher in order to escape.

But while they unwillingly team up with each other, Letty starts a fight with Cipher and ends up winning. She escapes without Cipher but finds out she’s in Antarctica.
When Letty comes back, Cipher gives her winter clothing. When they escape the black site prison together, a submarine emerges from below.
A woman using binoculars appears, which is later revealed to be Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar. Since Cipher doesn’t seem surprised by Gisele’s appearance, it’s clear that the two may be working together, although we do not know the reason for this yet.

Fast X: Will Cipher Join Dom’s Team?
There have been speculations as to whether Cipher will join Dom’s team considering that Dom has a history of forgiving the villains, like Deckard Shaw and his brother Jakob Toretto.
If Cipher does join Dom’s team, this won’t be the first time a villain in Fast & Furious switches sides. We even see Han and Deckard teaming up in Fast X after the latter tried to kill the former.
Cipher, however, seems to be an irredeemable villain. She kidnaps Little Brian and his mother, Elena Neves, which forced Dom to work for her and betray his family.
But even though Dom did what was asked of him, Cipher still had Elena shot. And in F9, Cipher pitted the Toretto brothers against each other.
From the past Fast & Furious films, we have seen that Cipher is clearly a manipulative villain. Actress Charlize Theron even describes Cipher as “rapacious and self-serving.” So, while she teams up with Letty, this may be only for her own personal interests.
Based on what we have seen in Cipher’s character, the alliance she formed is temporary and for her own benefit. It won’t be surprising to see her betray Dom’s team in the Fast X sequel after she gets what she wants.
