Cameron Diaz will always be Hollywood's favorite lead actress. This is why when she announced her retirement from acting several years ago, many were disappointed. But it looks like we're getting a new movie from her again!
Diaz will reunite with her former co-star in Annie, Jamie Foxx. The movie, called Back in Action, is a Netflix Original action-comedy written by Brendan O'Brien and directed by Seth Gordon.
Here's what we know about Diaz's upcoming movie.
Back in Action Release Date
As of this writing, Back in Action is in pre-production stage and is in active development. The film is expected to start shooting in November 2022.
According to The Production List, the movie will be shooting in location between Atlanta and London.

Back in Action Cast
We only know that Jamie Foxx was responsible for taking Cameron Diaz out of retirement just for Back in Action. Foxx also shared an audio clip of his conversation with Diaz on Twitter.
“Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT,” Foxx captioned the post. “@CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!!”
So the two are the only confirmed Back in Action cast members for now.
Why Did Cameron Diaz Retire From Acting?
Back in 2018, Diaz announced that she had retired from acting after her last role in Sony's adaptation of Annie. But prior to this formal announcement, she had actually stepped away from acting in 2014. In an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop via Vulture Magazine, Diaz said her decision to retire from acting was so she could "really focus" on her personal life, relationships, family, and friends.
On an Instagram story, Diaz revealed that she is stepping back to the limelight for this specific movie. "Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can't frickin wait it's gonna be a blast!"
