As the 10th film from the Fast & Furious franchise, the movie has already earned $320 million on its opening weekend. This just proves that avid fans are still eager to watch the franchise.
And true enough, actor and producer Vin Diesel has confirmed that there will be several spinoff projects that will follow. But as for the original saga, Fast X is the start of the finale.

During its 20-year period, the Fast & Furious franchise has been able to release a series of spin-offs, short films, and even a TV show called Fast and Furious. Not to mention, there are the 10 Fast & Furious films that come from the main franchise itself.

Is Better Luck Tomorrow Part of the Fast & Furious Universe?
This brings us to an unofficial Fast & Furious movie that is said to be part of the franchise.
Originally, Justin Lin's Better Luck Tomorrow was never intended to be a prequel to the franchise. For starters, it is not an action movie like the other films. Instead, the movie is a coming-of-age drama that came out in 2002.
The independent crime drama made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival less than a year after the first The Fast & the Furious movie came out.
When Lin was asked to direct the threequel, he did not enjoy the early drafts of the script. The studio gave him the freedom to develop the film the way he wanted to, which is why he added Han Seoul-Oh.
This is how Lin was able to connect Better Luck Tomorrow with the Fast & Furious franchise.
The movie followed the story of an Asian American named Ben Manibang (played by Parry Shen), who formed a street gang with his friends Virgil Hu (played by Jason Tobin), Han Lue (played by Sung Kang), and Daric Loo (played by Roger Fan).
The group would then earn some extra cash while studying. Kang's character, Han, has a fondness for nice cars, which is influenced by his mechanic father.
In the movie, Han drives an orange 1965 Ford Mustang and is a known chain smoker. When Han's character comes out in Fast Five, he gains a girlfriend, Gisele Yashar (played by Gal Gadot). This time around, he's no longer a chain smoker and goes by a new name, Han Seoul-Oh.
Han's character was not fully explored in Tokyo Drift. But in later movies, it is revealed that Han is friends with Dom Toretto (played by Vin Diesel).
What Are the Fast & Furious Spinoff Projects in Development?
After the success of Fast X, Diesel spoke with Variety and revealed that several spinoffs are being planned. Some projects have been in development for more than five years already.
"I started developing the female spinoff… in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs."
Diesel is referring to the female-led Fast & Furious spinoff that Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Lindsey Beer will reportedly write.
This spinoff is rumored to include Michelle Rodriguez, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Brie Larson, and maybe even Charlize Theron. Right now, nothing official in the casting has been announced.
With regards to what these spinoff projects are, the reports show that there could be a new Tokyo Drift-style project that will bring back Han Seoul-Oh's character.
There's also a possible prequel with Jakob Toretto (played by John Cena) as he worked for Mr. Nobody (played by Kurt Russell). Another Hobbs & Shaw film could also be in the works.
Not to mention, Fast X will be a trilogy.
