Mickey Rourke's time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn't something he'd like to be remembered for, let's just put it that way and despite putting in all the effort to become a credible villain for Tony Stark in Iron Man 2, going as far as spending time in an actual prison to prepare for his role as Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash, things went south for the acclaimed actor and although the second Iron Man film turned out to be a box office success, it pretty much tainted the actor's acting resume.

Rourke has come out in the past to criticize Marvel Studios for not letting him get his way with things during the filming of Iron Man 2. After his portrayal of Whiplash gained an underwhelming response from fans and was pretty much treated as a side villain, the Oscar-winning actor has seemingly made it his MO to take a jab at the studio any chance he could.

Now, in his latest attempt to lambast Marvel Studios, Rourke took the opportunity to throw massive shade at the studio, even going as far as calling the MCU movies "crap". In an Instagram post, Rourke showed his appreciation for the hit TV series Law & Order: SVU but ended things by slamming the Marvel universe. Check out the post here:

I've always believed that Rourke came into the MCU a little too early and it was during the time when Marvel Studios was still trying to figure out the overall approach they want with the franchise and you gotta agree that the creative direction for the universe still wasn't as solid. Despite the fact that its predecessor already teased a larger universe, Iron Man 2 still felt exclusive and the MCU concept was still premature. It's quite unfortunate for sure but there's really nothing we can do about it at this point.

Iron Man 2 is available for streaming on Disney+. Meanwhile, the spinoff series Armor Wars will hit the streaming service sometime in 2022.
