International Trailer for Alita: Battle Angel Features a Ton of New Footage

Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel is set to come out early next year, and we've just gotten a new international trailer that gives us a lot of great footage from the movie—possibly the most we've seen out of all the previews.

Besides getting more on the lore of the character, we also get to see the fantastic visual effects of the film. Originally, Alita was set to come out this December, but seeing that the competition was films like Bumblebee, Aquaman, Into the Spider-Verse, and Mary Poppins Returns, it wisely chose to come out on a much later date.

I'll admit, a lot of the lines from the trailer do sound a tad corny, but I think it's already expected of Rodriguez's work. If you walk into the film expecting some cheesy lines with over-the-top action, then I guess you'll enjoy anything that Rodriguez would make—particularly this movie.

Knowing how anime adaptations always work with Hollywood, there's a good chance that Alita will bomb, but once in a while, you get gems like Edge of Tomorrow which is based on the manga All You Need is Kill. Let's hope Hollywood's take on Battle Angel Alita will get more love than Ghost in the Shell did.

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love.

Alita: Battle Angel hits theaters Feb. 14, 2019.
