Indiana Jones 5 Earns Standing Ovation For Harrison Ford’s Last Time Starring in the Franchise

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to end the long-running Harrison Ford-led franchise.

Ford was present at the Cannes Film Festival (via Variety) where he had received a ‘muted standing ovation’ for witnessing his last adventure as the titular star.

He attended his last adventure for the franchise on-screen alongside his wife Calista Flockhart.

As the credits rolled, Ford was welcomed with open arms like a true movie star as his fans screamed for him in awe while stepping into the theater.

“I’m very moved by this,” Ford admitted during his speech at the Cannes Film Festival. “They say when you’re about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes.”

The 80-year-old star added: “A great part of my life, but not all of my life. My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I’m grateful.”

Afterwards, Ford bid the audience farewell for gracing the screens one last time as Indiana Jones:

“I love you, too. But I’ve got a movie you ought to see. It’s right behind me. So let me get out of the way and thank you again for this great honor.”

Previously, Ford outrightly said, “[Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny] is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character.”

He shared: “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”

Not to mention, he stepped his foot down on any speculation that he would reprise his role in the future.

Ford cleared up that the upcoming Indiana Jones series being developed by Disney Plus ‘will not involve him, if it does come to fruition.’

Soon, Ford will grace the big screens again, of course, but this time, as part of the MCU franchise with his role as General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in Captain America: New World Order, set to debut sometime in 2024.

Aside from Ford, the Indiana Jones 5 cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is expected to hit theaters on June 30!
