Incredibles 2 Becomes The First Animated Film to Pass $600M at Domestic Box Office

Disney/Pixar

Disney and Pixar's Incredibles 2 just made history on Sunday when it became the first animated film to earn more than $600 million at the domestic box office.

According to Box Office Mojo's estimates, the Brad Bird-directed superhero animated film earned about $3.16 million over the weekend, bringing the film's total domestic earnings to an estimated $601 million.

Incredible 2's domestic earnings are already ahead of Dory ($486 million). The film is also the 9th highest domestic earner of all time and the 3rd highest-grossing superhero film just behind Black Panther ($700 million) and Avengers: Infinity War ($678 million).

Incredibles 2 already grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, making it Pixar's highest-grossing film and the 17th highest-grossing film of all time. Frozen still holds the record for the highest-grossing animated film worldwide with $1.72 billion.

That's pretty incredible and it's likely that Disney and Pixar are already considering to make a third Incredibles film soon.
