IDW and Marvel Team Up For All-Ages Comic Books, Featuring Spider-Man, The Avengers, and More

Marvel and IDW have announced a partnership that will allow the latter to publish new, all-ages comics that star characters like Spider-Man and The Avengers. Both companies will develop these middle-grade comic books with hopes that younger and casual fans enjoy them which is a fine goal. After all, comics are made for children, despite how pricey they can be.

IDW will publish these new comic books and trade paperback collections, which will be available in local comic book shops and book retailers. Some are probably wondering why Marvel won't be publishing these themselves but that's another topic entirely.

Launching in November, the collaboration starts with a Spider-Man series that stars both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, though it looks like Ghost Spider will appear as well. In December, we will be getting a series that stars The Avengers and in January Black Panther will get one as well.

IDW has published a number of Disney and Marvel content in the past but when it comes to the latter, it was usually limited to special Artist Edition graphic novels. The company still publishes comics that feature Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Star Wars, so it makes sense that they would eventually make all-ages Marvel comics.

No creative teams have been announced.
